Could this be an old school house? ...........

This old building at Solms, Texas is located just inside the fence of an old junk yard. I think the building was moved to that location and might be an old school house, but not sure. It is in bad condition and looks like it might fall down if we happen to get a bad storm with high winds. Kelley (Texas) :)

Picture taken with a Sony A300 DSLR with a Minolta 28-85mm lens, F7.1, 1/250, ISO 100, Manual Mode, good lighting late evening.

It could be but just can't say for sure . Here is a couple pictures of one room schools I took here in Missouri a few years back .

I was useing a kodiak 850 for these pictures .

I always enjoy seeing pictures of old historical sites or any other old interesting site. Anything old!

The picture I posted may not be an old school, may be a bus or train station, just can't figure it out.

Thanks for sharing your pictures with the Forum. Kelley (Texas) :)

Do you remember what county it was in, or, what little town it was near? Say..."five miles north of Ava, Missouri, just past Bear Creek"?

I could try to look it up on an old topo map, if I have the area. It looks like it could have served as an old church, school, or, both at one time. No bell tower, no cross, but some denominations shy away from the cross as an ornamentation to the outside of a church. Bell could have been on a pole instead of a tower. I kind of lean toward school.

If if were in Illinois, it could have even been an old GRANGE hall.

Nice photo. Makes ya want to get permission to hunt the place.

best,

Nes

It is in an old junk yard and appears to have been moved there. Next time I go through the small community I am going to stop and ask the junk yard folks about the history of the old building. Thanks for your interest in the picture. As a side note, with all the weeds and brush, I would suspect that there would be a snake or two living there. Kelley (Texas) :)
