Could any X-Terra 70's have the rare problem which a few 30's and 50's have been reported on this forum to have, in which the detector will suddenly turn off or on, without imput from the operator, possibly due to a static discharge? If Minelab acknowledged this to be a problem in need of correction (I don't know), could it have been corrected before any shipments left the factory? Maybe this contributed to the delayed release of the flagship X-Terra, to "iron out the kinks".

No, Atleast I do not think so. The issue was resolved with the 50 and 30 at the factory. The 70's that everyone is getting have just come off the line and shipped from the factory in the last 2 weeks.

The issue was resolved quickly once it was found. It was not found to be a problem in all 30 and 50. Again, I would have to think that it would not be an issue with this detector.

have had a problem with it not wanting to quit searching" Just Kidding Took it out for a short run at a old drug store sight today that has been demolished first target was a 1943 war nickol at about 8" hit at a 12 on the meter with a faint click! in all metal mode sens at max! Man was that tough with it at max chattered alot in spots
rest of the time mainly clad and a few nails, Just a quick ? after I pulled the nickol out of the ground and rubbed the dirt off I switched to pattern 2 and it would not read on the detector audio or ID ????

Barry, I ran my X-70 across about 200 old coins today, in attempt at determining exactly where each coin would register on the visual indicator. I used the all metal mode, just to make sure I didn't miss anything. I found the X-70 would register the 8 War Nickels I tested (+/- 40% silver) came in at either a 12, 14 or 16. The X-70's Pattern 2, as set at the factory, rejects targets of -8, -6, -4, -2, 2, 4, 6, 14, 16, 18, 20, 22, 24, 26 and 48. So, IF that War Nickel that you dug would have read either a 14 or 16 once it was removed from the ground, (and we know coins can read differently in the ground as compared to in the air) the X-Terra 70 will reject it in the preset Pattern 2 mode. is to hunt in the am Mode 90% of the time unless I am looking for battery money You need to write a book!HH

I was out yesterday for more then 3 hours. My X-Terra 50 switched itself of, a couple of times, again. I think the reason is because the battery "door" isn't closing firm enough. I'll have to bend the little iron inside it a bit more so that I get - again - more pressure on the batteries.

I think that is all there is to this problem.
