Could a few guys share their thought on the g2 using it on a salt-water beach ??

Any use on Va beach or the OBX ( outer banks ) would be especially helpful.....I'm sure dry sand it works perfectly ( as do most )... but I'm really interested in the surf line/wet sand.. The manual states it will GB to wet salt... Are you finding this to be true...

I'm looking for something lite and works excellent there.... Can this be the ticket I hope??

Thanks.. Mark ( ohio )

I used the GB Pro with 5x10" coil at the beach and it will run better on the wet salt sand than most single frequency detectors. However, you have to ground balance, which usually goes down to "0" so you have to manually increase it to get some level of sensitivity.

I hit only one target: a small silver heart pendant about the size of the nail on your pinky finger. And it was extremely shallow.

As hard as I have tried, here is the truth I have never been able to escape: single frequency detectors simply do not function well on wet salt sand. They can function, yes, but with great loss of depth and sensitivity.

Wet salt sand is the domain of dual/mutli-frequency detectors and PI detectors. They will smoke single frequency detectors in this area every time.

Sorry to sound so final about it, and God knows I have to tried to approach it from every angle I can find, but this has been the consistent result.

I have had my GB to the OBX and Northern FL and will ground balance with no problems. Make sure you get a cover for the control head due to salt spray. I got one off of fee bay that is reasonable and nice fit where you can still get your thumb up under neath cover to make adjustments. I am not sure if the factory on fits so tight you can adjust on the fly, someone else might be able to comment on the FT cover. Disposable shower cap will work also.Typical GB setting at the OBX this spring was 4 or 5 . If you want a little added sensitivity you can hunt in am and set the GB abit positive until you get some noise. Then just pump the coil every now and then to see current phase conditions while in am. Hope this helps.

Take care
Bob
