Went back to the old cotton mill house for a short hunt. After 3 hunts the pickings are getting slim. I covered a lot of territory in jewelry mode. Still digging a few pennies all dating 1970s. I knew there had to be a wheat there somewhere and finally scored it. A 1912 Which is a lot older than I expected. Also hit on this nice looking little ring which beeped about 3 notches above a nickel. So far Ive found no markings so I guess I will try to pass it as a Top Shelf Roscoe. Are there diff. grades of Roscoes Value wise?:blowup:All n all had a great 2 hour hunt.

Very nice, there should be some silver there somewhere. Sweet ring:)

Keep in mind not all gold rings have markings. Back in those days a lot were made or designed by the owner and didn't distinguish between karats.

Your photo leaves a lot to be desired. Take the ring to a jeweler or a pawn shop and ask them to test it. Most will be happy to. Tell them that you MD and that you need an outlet for disposing of your gold jewelry. They'll test stones too. Your ring could be gold and diamonds. I sure hope it is.

I bought a Mizar electronic gold tester. It is a nifty little item but you still need chemical reagents to use it. They are a bit expensive and tend to stain junk jewelry. If I didn't need it for testing jewelry that I buy and sell I would have stuck with bringing the questionable items I find to one of the 3 or 4 guys I trust to give me good info.

I keep all sorts of tackle and toolboxes for my hobbies. I call one a pawnshop in a box. Gold test kit. Scales. Jewelry cleaning supplies. Little bags. Coin tubes. 2x2s. Red Book. Grey sheets. All kinds of fun stuff.
