I am going to Costa Rica on the Caribbean side does anyone know if that area would be worth hunting?

Stick to the better hotel beaches and you should do well. Lots of Europeans have been flocking to Costa Rica for years. Watch out for the Ganja Man as there is a lot of dope on the Caribbean side and you don't want to go someplace too isolated or you could easily get into trouble. The rip tides were really dangerous on the Pacific side, especially around Jaco but I can't say about the Caribbean side.

I am planning a trip to Jaco, Costa Rica this summer. I would like to hear more about how you did there. Also about the rips and what month and year you were in Jaco. I was there two years ago and there was a lot of new building going on. Mostly large condos and hotels, however I did not have a detector with me.
I was planning on taking my Excal 1000 for the water and a Fisher CZ-6A for the beach.
