Anyone out there with a Cortes that can tell me about it? I have a Deleon and am wondering if I am missing much by not upgrading. I have had a few suggestions on other forums but you guys here have been there for me from the beginning. What do you think?
 
I personally dont think that it would be worth the headache of selling or trading to get one. They are very similar. What is it about the Cortes that has got you hankering for one? The ability to ground balance in All Metal? The multiple tones with the tone switch? The tiny numbers and bars;)??????

I dont think you are "missing" any signals that the DeLeon wouldnt sound off on, just a little more information on whether to dig. I have a Cortes and I still find myself digging most questionable signals anyway.
 
You should get same depth with either unit. Cortes has more target info (expanded number of target icons) and few more features like the lighted display, SUM mode and notch. You wont get any more depth from Cortes than you are now getting, but the display will show you more information about each target.
 
I guess I am going through what most every detectorist goes through. I watch my friend with his XLT and see the neat meter and the backlight and I am just a little envious. I guess the only thing I really need is a backlight and I kind of worked something out for that. As for finding things with my Deleon I have found and dug things the XLT told me was trash. I love Tesoro I just wich they had a backlight on the Deleon. Otherwise I want more! MOre! MOre! One detector isn't enough. I need one for both hands!! That way I can find two signals at once, set my kids to digging, and then move on to find more!!!

So the XLT or the Deleon was right?

I am curious I flipped an xlt for the Deleon.
 
I don't really know. I just feel inadequate standing next to my buddy with his XLT!!! (not reallY). I guess I just want a "better" detector and the Cortes is top of the line for Tesoro! Maybe I should sell a kidney and buy a Quatro or Explorere SE. Although I am still finding a lot of stuff with the Deleon! I guess I will keep using the Deleon this summer and fall and then ask Santa for a new machine at Christmas time!
