Hope you get some answers, Countryboy, cuz I'm curious, too as to how well it would work on Salt water beaches.

Now that people are in from their weekend detecting, you should get some answers.

Hey CB.

The Cortes will do fine in the dry sand, but might have trouble with the wet sand. You may have to turn down the sensitivity to minimize the chatter. You will get reasonable depth but could add a bit more with the 12 by 10 coil. That bigger coil would also give you greater coverage so I would suggest that set up for beach hunting. Tesoro also makes a Cleansweep coil, 18 by 3.5 that many like the best for beach hunting. You dont really gain any depth over the standard 9 by 8 but you get great coverage. I would run the sensitivity all the way up and have your disc set down to just above iron. Test it with a piece of tin foil, you will want to hear tin foin because platinum and white gold can read way down in that area. Dig anything that has a steady ID number and target ID. Rings on the Cortes are always steady and repetable, the numbers and graphics dont "jump" around.

With the 12 by 10 coil on land I dug a Indianhead "fatty" at about the 11" mark. It was a faint signal but repetable. Hope this helps you out.

Now if that isn't a selling point for the Cortes, I sure don't know what is:stars:
