Hey what do you all think of the Cortes? I have a great deal and im getting one. The only other Tesoro that i have used is a silver umax that my son has. I like it and figure you cant go wrong with the lifetime warranty.

Just received my new Cortes today. Have not had a chance to try it yet. I like the weight. Never had a Tesoro before but I am guessing I will enjoy it. Good luck on your decision.

Been using a Cortes about 3 years now. Great all-around detector. Hit the SUM switch, a quarter will give a very high pitch tone, a dime tone will be a little lower pitch, zinc penny a little lower yet. Jabbo. Cortes, CZ7aPro, Garrett Master Hunter.

Had my Cortes about a month now and the only negative I can give it is I dig more iron than I have with other detectors. It seems to give too good of a signal on rusty iron, and altho I think its iron because of the display jumping around, I still dig it. Its a matter of me not trusting the machine yet I guess. Yesterday I dug a lot of good signals and after the plug was out, no signal. Weird. But all in all I like the machine very much.

Bought Cortes new Dec. 2007, used it very frequently (3-5 times a week ,4-6 hours day ,most every week since new). Fire Service, 24 on, 48 off is how thats possible. Anyway, its an excellent machine and I'm still learning it, today I went to an area of vacant lots/ demolished homes I've hunted numerous times, at one point I was detecting a gravel (small 1/4" gravel) parking area I know I've hunted before. I went slower than normal and dug several wheat cents then tried a soft, iffy signal and it turned out to be a 1964 silver dime below the bed of gravel on top of clay base, the I.D. briefly said "sil coin cu cent" then it couldnt decide. It was fairly deep to me at about 6", most coins in the area are 1"- 3". But to make a short story longer, its a great machine, yes I would buy it again, it is lightweight, lifetime warranty, I think on the 4th set of batteries currently. EDIT: 99% of the time I hunt with sensitivity wide open (10+), no notch, disc. just below or on foil, I never have liked the SUM mode.
