CORTES & TROY SHADOW COIL

Just wondering, purchased a used Cortes and it came with a second coil. A TROY SHADOW SUPER 7 INCH made by TESORO.
It is compatible with the CORTES ???
I did plug it in and turn on the detector, turned on the detector and it went to high volume beep and the display on the LCD scren did not seem right so I turned off the detector.
