Cortes, son of Eldorado

I was doing an Internet search to find any information about using a Cortes out prospecting (I am going out west to AZ for the first time and want to try my hand nugget hunting on some GPAA claims near Phoenix with my Cortes) when I read in an old post that the Cortes is basically the old Eldorado with some added features.

This is not necessarily a bad thing, I have read a lot of good things about the Eldorado. Can anyone comment on this?

PS any opinions or suggestions on using my Cortes nugget hunting would be welcome also.

Corteser, I live close to the Bradshaw Mountains in Arizona and have hunted for gold nuggets for about the past 5 years, I started out hunting for nuggets using a Lobo ST and tried a couple more VLF detectors that worked in a lot of places, but other places had high minerialization and drove the the poor things mad, so I tried Pulse Induction machines and they work good on larger nuggets in higher minerialization spots, but not so good on small nuggets in low minerialization spots. What you need to find gold nuggets is a good VLF detector, a good Pulse Induction detector, a water hydration back pack, a pick with a super magnet on one end, a GPS device, snake gards, because we have the Mojove Rattelsnake " you need to do a internet search on this bad boy " that has some real nasty venom, a four wheel drive with ground clearance and be prepared to do a lot of manual labor, between walking up and down hills.

I am not trying to discourage you, it is hard work, but once you find your first gold nugget, you are hooked. People come from all over the world to the Arizona desert every winter to prospect, some of the best people I have ever met. The deset is a beautiful place, but it has no mercy on anyone or anything. Good luck and have a safe trip.

The Cort

well this is a question for Monte I suppose. I do know one difference between the two. The Eldorado has manual ground balance in both all metal and discrimination whereas the Cortes is manual in all metal and fixed ground balance in discrimination.

I may have misused "old" in my original post. I was unaware that the Eldorado had been issued in several versions.

In that case, I would suggest the Tesoro Cortes. It is basically an Eldorado with Target ID and a few more features. You can read about the Eldorado in other post. I would order one and buy the optional 7" wide scan coil. The Wide Scan coil would make the Cortes
an excellent choice for nugget hunting.

Hope this answers your questions. By the way, Dan is putting the Cortes in our new catalog as this month's special. Call and ask him for a great price on the special. You can call him at 877-550-4441. One of the extra's in the special is a $60 Three Way Sand Scoop for hunting beaches and he has added a detector bag, headphones, digging tool, trash apron and book in this deal.
