i'm wanting to get a tesoro id machine and would like to know the difference between the cortes and deleon for coin and jewelry hunting. does one do a better job or are they pretty much equal except for the fact the cortes gives you a little more target information? is depth the same on both machines? thanks.............roger

Same machines, The Cortes has a few more bells and whistles.

The Cortes has one extra bar graph, and a feature called sum where you pass the coil over the target a few times, and it is supposed to give a more accurate result (ID) Cortes also has manual GB.

I own and use a Deleon. The ID is very accurate. If the bar graph says zinc, you can be quite sure you are going to dig a zinc penny. If the ID number reads 95 you will most likely have a coin, (or other copper / silver) or possibly a larger piece of aluminum.

In one season GB has never been an issue in quite a variety of environments, including wet salt sand, sens at 6 or 7. in most places you can run sens at 10 or even into the red zone.

I'd say if you think you require manual GB then go cortes if not save 200 and go deleon.

I traded for a used Deleon a little over a year ago and it's worked well for me. However, I'd like several of the features found on the Cortes and may trade up or add one to my arsenal when my budget allows. Especially would like the extra ID bar that separates copper pennies and dimes from the quarters etc. And, the manual ground balance in all metal could be important in some locations.
My two bits,

I went with the Cortes only because at the time I felt if I would have got the DeLeon, I would have been wondering about getting the Cortes. So Cortes it was. Never have tried the DeLeon. It was kind of like why not go the little extra for the features at the time.

I've owned four deleon and managed to find a first with everyone i've owned just recently sold my new one had no choice had to catch up on bills but once you get use to it, it's very accurate will have another inb the spring!

I have had my deleon for about six years, I have had several other detectors all costing more, but I keep going back to the deleon, Cant go wrong for the money. No problems of any type, it just keeps on finding stuff.

I am glad to hear the DeLeon is well liked. I just ordered one. Am looking foward to it, Beale.
