CORS coils on my deleon. Info and help please

Stoof-tabsallday

Well-known member
So I've been looking at the CORS coils designed for tesoros.
If you read my other post, I havey deleon with the troy super 7 coil coming back from tesoro soon, and needed some info.
Would any of the CORS coils be better than my troy?
I understand that a large one would increase depth theoretically, but besides that with the bigger ones, which ones would be a good choice and an improvement over my troy?
I only ask because the troy is regarded by many as a perfect coil for this machine, so any info will help.
Thanks! !

They are the same DD coils as the NEL's, they are made by NEL and sold under the CORS brand for the US seller.

If Tesoro tweaked the fixed ground balance of the Deleon for the Super 7 coil, it will not be tweaked for the CORS coil.
Your GB more than likely will be off if you put one on. So you probably will not see the improvement your hoping for.
I am not sure if there are other trimpots inside that would calibrate the meter target ID to the coil as well.
Call Rusty to confirm.

I would just use the Deleon as it is, you may find its more than adequate and you won't want the DD coil.
Should make an excellent coin hunter with the Troy coil.

My Deleon is deepest and has the best ID with the stock 9x8 coil.

Other coils I've tried:
7" Widescan
11x8" RSD Widescan
8" Brown Donut

Between all those the 9x8 is best at everything. The smaller 7" Widescan didn't separate any better in my testing, and the bigger 11x8 RSD didn't get any better depth. The widescans did seem to want to false ID screwcaps more than the concentrics. But I've had those results with a couple other detectors as well.

I'd try a stock coil before you go buying a foreign made wonder coil  They work pretty darn good.

My D chatters when fitted with the 10X12 tesoro coil, but works very well with the Tesoro 7" concentric mounted.

NEL Sharpshooter (same as the CORS Fortune) is one of my favorite coils on the µMax compatible Tesoro's. It is very stable, separates well and enables the sensitivity to be turned way up without chatter. It's also well balanced and provides decent ground coverage. Another big plus, the build quality on the NEL/CORS coils is top notch.

What's the CORS version of the sharpshooter? What are the dimensions?

CORS Fortune is the same as the sharpshooter... 9.5" x 5.5" DD. That coil should also work well with your fixed ground balance.
