Copper looking silver & the user manual

I have been fighting (cussing) my Cannon Powershot 20 for turning my nice silver into blah looking copper toned discs, it's a white balancing/exposure issue as I learned on this forum. Well...I actually read the user manual for the camera this morning and discovered that if I set the camera to manual mode, I can actually control/turn off exposure/white balancing. Could have saved myself a lot of trouble by reading the instructions.
