copper dimes

monster

New member
anyone ever pulled dimes that had a copperish tone like a penny ?? in fact, it registered as a penny on my meter...never saw one and am curious about it.

Get them all the time. They are just newer clad dimes that tarnish up that way due to the metal content and reaction to whats in your soil. The pre 64 dimes are silver and come out a lot cleaner. If you want to clean them up to get rid of them I put my newer clad in a rock tumbler with sand, detergent soap, white vinegar, and tumble away.
