Copper button

Pedlar mills

New member
I found this hollow copper button yesterday. Didn't want to scrub a lot on the back till I tried to find out more about it I think it's a lion crown and crest on the front of it, does anyone have any clue what it may have been in or how to try to date it?

Things I, and others, often wonder about, such as:

• Model used
• Mode used
• Settings used (Gain, Disc., etc.)
• Coil used (size and type)

Good luck on future hunts.

I agree Monte , if I post a find I do my best to list up how I found it settings etc.. that's how we help each other otherwise its just meaningless and helps no one !

Sorry about that guys new to metal detecting and forums in general. Found with the racer stock coil gain 85 disc 10, 3 tone mode but double checking things in all metal to try to get a better feel for that mode. That same outing I found this old casing that I think is late 1800s early 1900s blackpowder under a 2 to 3 hundred year old oak that is a mine field of iron. I am thinking was the site of a old blacksmith shop since I have found bronze splatter balls and fist size chunks of slag. Found the rifle casing with small coil 37 gain and 5 disc 3 tone and double checking faint tones with 2 tone stock setting and all metal. And thanks for the response

Good to see ya popped out that keeper in all that stuff. Never came down that low on gain but after reading this will be trying it in my thicker iron spots. thx for the update

No problem 3ringer it seems to me as others have said the lower gain and disc in super heavy iron sites really lowers the background noise down so u can pick out the good stuff and the racer makes it so easy to switch over to 2 tone or all metal at a higher gain when u get those high or mid tones that are to soft to pull a id number with the low gain but would be so easy to be drowned out by the iron if u hadn't been able to narrow the search sweep down before switching back to the deeper audio. Has been unbelievably fun and interesting trying to learn what this detector will tell u when u just slow the pace down and listen and experiment with not just 3 modes but have all 4 set up different and toggle back and forth
