My daughter was out tecting after Hurricane Ike. A huge oak tree had been blown over exposing it's roots. She was in an area in Houston very near its oldest settlement, Frost Town. Frost Town was settled in the early 1800's by freed slaves. The Allen Brothers purchased the land as a part of what became Houston in the the early1830's. Enough history. Anyway hidden in the root of the tree she uncovered a small hand carved head made from stone. It has very detailed African American features and was in good condition. From what we have been able to discover about it, it may have come from Africa and been transported to that area by slaves. So archaeologist feel that it might have been ceremonial others think it might have been a dolls head. No one knows for sure, but it is, as my daughter says, a find of a lifetime. It will probably be put on exhibition in one of the museum es in Houston.
