Yesterday was my birthday, and my 80 year old neighbor out of the blue came over and gave me this gift. She said she knew I was interested in old military stuff and thought I would like to have this. When she was a little girl her dad was a carpenter in Upstate New York and found it behind a wall or something like that. That was in the late 1920's The second picture is a stamp on the top. Not sure if it's a date or some kind of serial number 1845. I believe it is probably from that time frame though. Anyway it sure was a nice gift.
