Cool morning hunt.:garrett:

42 and a brisk 20+ m p h north wind when Chris and I started out this morning. One good thing about winter weather, it opens up some of our winter hunting grounds.

Over all, not a ton of targets, but Chris did manage a 21 Buffalo, 2 wheats and a 925 marked ear ring. I snuck up on a 1917 Merc, 1904 Barber dime, a 30 wheat, an R of some sort marked sterling and the heart throb junker ring. The Barber was near 8" and nestled on the side of a root. It looks like I kissed it working around the root. Had on the 11" coil.

Nice going Jim.

That high wind will cut right through you unless you find some thick woods to detect in.

Nice finds! Glad you just kissed the Barber; I have a tendency to hump 'um till surface is marred two grades below.

GREAT Work!:surprised: You are gonna close strong again this year,:clapping: I fear the weather is not playing around this year though, it seems serious, windy and cold, just like Winter used to be...

It has the ear marks of you being right, Mud, about the winter weather. Elton has been telling me how cold it is there where he is. I take what he says, though, with a grain of salt as he seems like he might be a pansy. We are in the mid 20's here this morning. We need a couple of good frosts, though, for bug, varmint and creepy crawler removal. Hope you still have a few hunting days left up there Mud. HH jim tn

I was a bit of a pansy this am...left to go out, wind chill at 7f.....garage door wouldnt shut, good thing it takes the same batteries as the Pro, changed em all and it works now, drove down to the bait shop for coffee on the ice, snow and said "tahellwiddis" and came home...it jumped up on us too fast and we have not adjusted yet!:sadwalk: Maybe later after the salt trucks get out.

Year, it was 22 here a bit ago with a nice northernly breeze. I am not altogether a fair weather hunter, but will, non the less, will enjoy another cup of coffee here in the confines of my igloo a little while longer. Be careful up there. HH jim tn

Good idea, no need to be a MAN all at once! The condition of the roads along with that bitter wind is what told me to go home and wait, just not prudent to be driving on the ice this early in the season...out of all the miles I have driven, the only two wrecks I've EVER been in were on days like this, and thats because somebody else was driving too fast on the ice.

That's another nice hunt, Jim! Love to see those Mercs and Barbers (and that one was deep!).

Great results! Dealing with the cold takes much prep and common sense.
