Cool little eagle button - ID please

I found this eagle button in a field with civil war bullets scattered around it. Does anybody know what it might be from the backmark is unreadable. It looks like a sun over the eagles head. Thanks.

JMorgan, the button you have is called the "Great Seal" button. It is two designs removed from period eagle buttons, the Indian Wars eagle being in between the two.

The Great Seals began in 1902 using various backs through the years. You may have an iron back or a brass back with a faint stamping. Backmarks, as they moved away from mid-19th century, began to get less readable and more so faint.

Neat find, buddy.
