Cool finds from Baker/Sumpter area. BIG GOLD!

Went on a couple of trips to Sumpter/Baker OR recently and did a lil scouting. US bank in Baker has a great display of nuggies for us to drool over. The nugget in the middle is the armstrong nugget and weighs in at 80.4 ounces of solid gold! While out tromping around in a heavily wooded gulch I ran into a cool old sluice box near some tailing piles. The next day we headed up Cracker creek in Sumpter and stumbled upon..... well... I dunno what the heck it was but it was absolutely HUGE! Any ideas? All in all it was a pretty cool trip. No nuggies for me though. Still have that friggin skunk on my back. I just need to find that first nugget and then I'll be in the game. Maybe one of you could go out hunting with me and when I'm not looking you could toss a nugget out in front of me and then pat me on the back or something? Anyway... happy hunting.

I agree with you it is big. It looks like a fort or a fortification of some sort. Then again it doesn't look that old. Look at all the concrete and it is thick. Must have been some kind of work area. If I knew any thing about mining I could probably tell you. Super pic on the gold , all that does is get the juices flowing. Looks like a great place to go. Hang in there , it won't be long and when you get that first one it will be good one. HH.

Neat stuff,
Did you post down the prospecting forum? Someone there might know if that would be the leftovers from mining.

Jeff

I should post it on the prospecting forum. That pic of the nugget doesn't do it justice. It's literally bigger than my fist!
