hello, everybody. i found this pair of buttons that are joined by a thick brass wire - looks kinda like a paperclip - on the back last weekend in an old farm field. the backs are plain, and i've been told they're buttons, extra buttons sold with a suit, cufflinks, and cloak [or cape] buttons. i'm not real sure what they are, i just know they're an old and cool find. they appear to be cast and drilled shanks. i have a pic of the back, but need to crop it down. so... it's a cool find, but what the heck are they exactly? thanks, and hh!

They are cuff links. I have found many of them. Nice to have them together. A great find!! Buttons that are oval are rarer. Mostly all were round or octagonal. Some were oval, but not many. As for extra buttons??? I don't think they would waste a wire to connect them, when they could just use string. Just my thoughts on this. Maybe someone knows better. But all of mine have been cuff links. OK, so now you got my blood going!!! Now I have to go out on Saturday, before I go crazy. I hear it might hit the mid 30's for a high (a heat wave here lately:rofl:). HH

Very COOL Find Louis ! :clapping: Nice to see them together, Im thinking cuff links too.
I have found a few with wire still attached , all missing the mate though .
