Cookie Coins and Gold Today...

Craig-PI

New member
My hunting partner PI-Joe invited me to a new beach today and we had a successful 2 hour hunt.. we both got gold and old silver coins the picture with all the rings is our stuff together, my stuff is on the left..

I believe my diamond ring is a mine cut as its rounded.. I looked for a hallmark inside and there was nothing but when I got home and cleaned the ring I noticed 2 marks on the outside they are both worn but I can make out a castle on one and the other hallmark says 800, I looked up both hallmarks and I'm pretty sure they are British the 800 comes out to 19.2 carat gold... I' know that ring is old because the beach we hunted was old.. Joes ring was 14k and my 1963 school ring is 10k I also got a buff nickel and a couple wheaties plus the 2 silver coins..

We both used PI's Joe uses the Detector Pro Head Hunter and I hunt with the PI PRO. I will not use a VLF in the water... Second picture is our stuff together, first picture a close up of the old ring..

When your hitting cookie coins you are at the right depth for the old stuff and sand has moved out.....I try to stay as long as possible when the crustys are popping out.......Awsome digs man!!!!

East Coast and Connecticut where people swim maybe 2 months out of the year if we are lucky.. but I don't go to popular beaches I tend to go to out of the way small beaches or in this case a beach not used since the 40's.

I'm going to be honest... My Excalibur is not as deep as my PI even in PP mode.. We do not have much trash in the water up here it tends to live in the dry and damp sand.. I do not want to miss deep gold and I know my PI will get me down deeper.. I have learned what certain junk sounds like using my PI every time out so I'm not worried about digging a little extra and I'm no spring chicken ;) Excal is a great detector.. its just not for me in the water..

This is a real beauty ! And a .800 plus diamond !!! Woohoo! You know, i just realised, i think i never got a diamond higher than .35 points in 10 years of detection. Well there is always a first ! After all, i struck platinum on my vacations... maybe the diamonds will follow :)
