I am ready to upgrade. I have a Prizm II and my brother is using my old White's Liberty DI. He wants to upgrade also and I need to know that we are indeed making the right decision. We are, of course, going to each get MXTs. Will this get us deeper finds? Make it more enjoyable? Be more difficult to master? We are ready to buy now. Any help before we do? Thanks!

I have an MXT, and well as a DFX and Classic III. I use the MXT more than the others. It is an awesome detector. It does take a bit of getting used to but it will be much deeper than the Prizm II (nothing against the Prizm line). If I could keep only one of the 3 detectors that I have, it would be the MXT.

Some trivia: a dealer friend has told me that he thinks the MXT processes responses to targets quicker than the Prism units do.

There is 2 Whites detector that impresses me more than any other Whites. They are the IDX Pro for those that dont want to spend the money for a MXT and the other one is the MXT. The MXT has a little learning curve like your Prizm has,but will do much more.
I got a IDX Pro for my wife to use and I tried it too and was impressed at what this detector could do, then I heard so much about the MXT and even got a E Mail from one of the guy that was doing the feild test. After I read his test i knew I had to try one, so I ordered in one and was very impressed at the depth and the IDing of this detector and said it will probably be Whites best seller which i feel it is as it is more of a turn on and go detector with the power of the more expensive detectors that anyone can run.
The MXT is my wife main detector now and she has beat my oldest US dime as mine was a 1842 and now she has a 1840 that she got at 9 inches with the 6X10 DD coil. She also has got one of the only large cents found up here in ND too with her MXT.
What will convince you more will be the finds you will find with the MXT.

Chances are one of you may not care for the MXT so why get two of them? The latest and greatest is not always the best for everyone.
If you are primarily after coins, White's makes other machines besides the MXT with excellent performance. The XL Pro and IDX Pro are both very good performers for general hunting use and great on coins. My advice is give it a little more thought before rushing into buyng 2 MXT's
Just my 2 zincs

The MXT for one has ground tracking so it will balance out the ground to give you more depth and better ID. The MXT also uses the newest and updated software. The IDX pro though cost a bit less and for most will be easier and do the job too.

I have both the DFX and MXT detectors, my detector of choice is the MXT. Hunting mainly for civil war stuff I have looked in hunted out areas and still fine nice things. The MXT is just a more user friendly machine...you can ajust settings quick to work with the enviroment you are in. I think you both would be happy with the MXT it's an awsome machine.
