Converting to one 9 volt battery from the 6 C batteries in a MH CX

Have you tried a lighter detector? Don't know if you can do that or not. Voltage is the same but different batteries run different features on a detector like that which is why there are multiple batteries. Don't know how you'd wire it to run all the different functions off one battery.. Run it by Garrett and see what they say.

It could be done, but the battery life is likely to be quite short. A 9v battery is
made up of individual 1.5 volt cells packed into a metal case to get the 9v.
And those cells are tiny compared to a C cell.
I wouldn't bother myself.
What I might consider though is a remote battery pack that could be
carried on your belt, etc. That would be fairly simple to rig up.
But I would still use the C cells. Or even D cells if you wanted even greater
battery life.
