hi question is problems with my pc is it possible to upload programs to ctx by removing control box and sen dinging to a friend to up load programs without sending the whole detector

It is pretty simple to program it directly. I never did set up exchange for my E-Trac just did it manually. You can do the same as well for your CTX although you should investigate why you are having trouble connecting to the computer. Just a quick check
Start up Exchange 2, hook up your CTX and then turn on the CTX.
