Control Box Balance Point

My QXT seemed to be better balanced than my M6. Even with the lighter Eclipse 5.3 coil, the M6 feels a bit nose heavy even after I shortened up on the lower rod. After looking at some pictures, I noticed that the QXT control box was positioned further back on the rod. The QXT didn't feel nose heavy even with the 950 coil attached. So, I'm wondering if anyone else has noticed this and if it would be much trouble to move the control box back further on the M6 to get a better balance point.

Thanks

lengthen the the coil more and it will balance better

Doing that just makes it more nose heavy. I'm seesaw experienced. :)

I like the M6. Maybe that's because it is the same housing position and rod set-up as the Classic series, which I also enjoy.

One benefit of the Classic/M6 control housing location is that IF you need to open the control housing, you have easier access to the rear two top-of-housing screws.

I also agree, totally, that using a shorter-length rod helps, along with using a smaller-size and lighter-weight search coil.

One thing I know some people have done with their MXT's and similar models (with the stand-up handle) is to eliminate the 'S' rod in the middle and use a straight middle rod, like the Classic series used. That did seem to help a little with one that I checked out.

Just another idea.

I often wondered if a straight rod is better, then why do the manufacturers go to the trouble of putting a crook in it?

High tabman,
Try reversing your crook/having it bent the other way as to the factory position.
This is what many tall guys do, to get a few extra inches of coil reach length which prevents them from having to stoop/walk hunch backed.

Moving the box back will certainly solve your problem. I've done it with my BHID. The problem is the flat wire set from the pod to box is only so long on your M6. I've used the middle rod from a classic or M6 to make straight rods for both my V3i and BHID. I like them.
