Not a vehicle but a source of transportation for millions of people over the years starting around 1926. This is an old bridge over the original Rt-66 from the 30's and 40's just east of Endee,NM. Hard to believe it was a dirt. Had the opportunity to meet a guy that has lived there all his life and told us all kinds of stories. There is a salvage/junk yard full of old cars close by but the owner did/t want us to take photos due to people seeing the pics and getting the idea to steal car parts. The story goes....the guys grandpa owned a filling station on the state line of New Mexico and Texas in the community of Glenrio. Back in the early days people would be traveling cross country and their cars would break down, he would give them bus fare back to California or wherever and they would never return for their cars. He kept them and put them on his property and they've been there all these years. A few people have taken photos and posted them online and thieves would find out where it was and come in and steal parts, I can't really tell it like this guy did but hopefully you get the jest of it. There is a lot of history and some fantastic stories around if you just take a minute and talk to people. (by the way Kelley, if this doen't fit the criteria of contest please disregard)

Photo Contest. This is a nice historical picture and one very good story. You are correct, many old folks have some great stories to tell if folks would stop and listen. Sorry about disallowing this entry, but I do appreciate your enthusiasm. Kelley (Texas) :)

the winner of the Photo Contest will be completely free to construct the rules for the next Photo Contest. This contest was a first for me and I did the best that I could in making the rules, it was a learning experience for me.

I do hope that you will continue posting the enjoyable, interesting pictures that we all enjoy. I personally thank you for your participation and support of the Photo Contest as well as your support of this Forum...Thank You! Kelley (Texas) :)

Kelly, I appreciate what you're trying to do here. You're doing a great job!! Just don't stop!! I am really enjoying this part of the forum. I never find anything worth posting on the MD stuff. This is an excellent opportunity for people to share their photos and experiences. The contest is a great way to hopefully encourage a few other people to participate.
Thanks again
