OK....I will start it all off with an easy one. Lets see how many folks have been paying attention 'round here Winner can choose either a Fisher travel mug, black tee, or new retro logo hat.
My recent post featured 3 Colonial shoe/knee buckles from one of my new cellar holes (+ a 4th counting last weekend). That was a record for me @ 1 site as these things are quite scarce to find fully intact. Complete examples are prized by Colonial detectorists & historians though it's hard to pin a dollar value on them. Hunting in plowed fields you deal with just fragments of them. I mentioned that these are one of my favorite Colonial relics to find, & my partners & I will take one over a common copper anyday. Some may remember 1 dug one during the Coin$trike field test. They are a very personal item, and a fine example of Colonial dress. When I do presentations for childern they don't really understand what they were until I say they went on Pilgrim shoes
All that said, to win this contest one must guess the number of INTACT Colonial Shoe/Knee buckles I have excavated over the last few years. We find the frames alot with nothing attached, so they won't count. "Intact" will mean containing inner pin workings as well.
I have to go home & count them myself, but here's a hint it's under 100
Please just put a number in the subject line of your post like this so I don't have to dig for guesses...
Name: BFL Bill
Subject: 99 buckles
best of luck.....& I'll run it till Friday @ 4:00pm EST or until someone guesses the exact number beforehand. I will post a picture of all the complete buckles afterwards...
Have fun, Bill
