Consumer Safety would hate this ring

Guys, here's a ring I found earlier this year at a park I find old stuff at all the time. At first I thought it a scent, or sachet, like the smell would come out the front holes. However cleaning the back i see the spinning wheel and figure it whistles or makes a siren. I got the blade spinning but cant seem to make any noise with it. Found them on the internet, there where many types, like patterned for action comic and TV, movie, heroes, back in the 20's-40'setc. Do you think Consumer Safety would have something to say about the internal metal spinning fan with sharp blades? Talk about a nasty choking hazard! There was a hint of guild or gold paint on parts. Cool though. Good Hunts, Spring is coming soon, CO

Yes those are found commensurate with '30s to '50s type places. Little orphan annie decoder ring, or any of other various radio serial shows of the era had gimmicks like that. When you find them, you know you're in a place that can have silver coins though :)

Tom, I have found silver in this park, at least 10 pieces. Six where dimes I was lucky enough to find in a patch they had dug (maybe 15x15 feet) for to put new playground equipment on. They went down maybe a foot. While others call this several acre park cleaned out, Im thinking darn, there must be tons of silver there still to be had if they could make a detector that went deep enough. Thanks, CO

You could also buy them at the five and dime with your allowance. And some of them were pretty loud for being just a cheap toy.

I remember owing several of those as a kid in the early 1960's.

Yeah, I think we're dating ourselves.......I had one as well!
