Considering the CTX

I am an X-Terra 705 user and am considering moving up to the CTX. My problem is a lack of compatibility of the Xchange2 program with my Macintosh computer. My question is will the lack of the use of the Xchange2 program adversely effect my use of the CTX?

No exchange program will only work with Windows. Please holler if you have more questions.

The truth is YES.........You will need this to get updates for software.
Along with all the other great feature's that is has to offer.

It will not hinder the performance.....and a compliment to the 705.

I thought you could drag and drop updates with a mac? I was told that the ctx shows up as a hard drive on macs and then you can drag updates into the drive. I don't know if this is true but it is what I read somewhere.

the two issues regarding XChange2 incompatibility with MAC......1. building or modifying programs. 2. updating your CTX.

Here are a couple posts regarding each "issue". Since these were made a several months ago, you may want to contact the person who made each post to see if it worked as they explained. I know that updating the software can be done without using XChange2.

If you want to download the file directly into your computer, Minelab provides the "update" links on their website. Here is the link to the one they did for the Li-ion battery issue. http://www.minelab.com/__files/f/95723/CTX_3030_UPDATE_2012_06_13.mlb

I am a 705 user that upgraded to the CTX. You CAN update via Mac. However you can't download programs. But... If you have a screen shot you can easily replicate programs.

Digger and Neicedog are correct. It does show up as a hard drive. I plugged mine in this morning to test.

I however use the program on my sons laptop which is windows.
