Considering putting a different coil on my CZ-20 Any advice on waterproof connectors?

I'm kind of learly of doing this???
Is there a waterproof connector that is trustworthy?
Also, are the connectors available, just to switch coils one time? Or can you get one that you can plug all different CZ coils into??? If you have a link or address to any place that sells them, i'd appreciate it!
Thanks

Have never really seen a connector that is waterproof(submersible). They are going to leak and my advise to you is, stay hardwired. Have had friends that went that route and the connectors leaked and caused the unit to malfunction. Don't go there!

they used to make a connector called a Beach Connector, clear tube with plugs each end.but i dont see them any more on Doc's Place..guess id go with....http://www.ikelite.com/web_pages/sync_cords.html

but, I seem to remember about reading about the 8 and 10 coils having a chip in the coil. If you want to go to let say a 12" coil, I think you need to have an electronic component put on the circuit board. I would call Fisher First and make sure, otherwise it will be going back there. You can call Mr. Bill at Surfscanners, he might know too. Good Luck

I got lots of emails and posts on different forums and the advice tallies up to: DON'T DO IT.
So I won't.
Thanks for helping!!

How about an ikelite connector on headphones? I'm thinking of having some
Grey ghosts put on my excaliber, and was going to go the ikelite connector
route, so I could have my Koss's as a backup. I would be diving with this
alot. Should I go the hardwire route?
Thanks.

Hello diver420, I had Minelab install the male end into the top of my Excal control housing and they fit the ikelite female connector onto the Gray Ghost Underwater Headphones too. Detector Pro can do the mod for you too and they do a great job, with better reinforcing, around the connection. In my opinion, it is better set-up this way, as opposed to hardwiring. The impedance needs to be set for the Excal on the phones too. I also had Minelab install the ikelite connector onto the Koss, as well, for a back-up set. The Gray Ghost's are a vast improvement over the Koss, you will be amazed at the difference, I will never go back again.
