Considering MXT need some input from user's

Thinking about purchasing a MTX Pro and wanted to hear some feedback from you user's. I started with a Classic i.d. and now currently use a QXT Pro. I like my QXT but find myself wishing it had vdi readout not just 8 zones. Also scrolling through the menus can get in the way at times. For background, I live in Central Ohio and coin/jewelry hunt at schools & parks and hunt my families farm fields and old home sites. Would the MXT be a good choice or should I just stick with my QXT?

Do any of the dealers allow you to order with a different coil than the 12" model? Would rather have a smaller one.

Thanks,
Mike

Hi Mike, of course only you can choose what you may need and like in your part of the country. As for where I live, I think the MXT was my best choice. I've used it mostly in and around my hometown for 3+ years now and have had the PRO now for about 2 months. It's just MHO that you can't find a better coil than the 12" for ball, soccer and other wide open spaces. We have a lot of beer drinkers down here and I can still pick out all the nickels, dimes and quarters that are there. I love the different tones in C & J mode. Once you get used to them you can omit a lot of trash. I have picked up 10 Quarters, 4 dimes, 2 nickels and 3 cents just this AM I know you'll love the MXT as it's really a turn on and go machine.
At least that's my opinion. Also get yourself a DX-! pinpoiinter and it will also get your onto a lot more coins a lot faster(JMHO) GOOD LUCK and HH KC aka: floridason

MXT, MXT PRO,DX-!
lots of coils

I use the original MXT and have been quite pleased with it, although the extra features of the Pro would be useful to me. I don't know of any dealers that regularly change coils on a new purchase, but I'd think the odds of that would be better with a high volume dealer that would have a better chance of moving the extra (to him) coil. I agree that the 12" coil is good on sports fields etc., but have found the smaller coils to more useful in trashy parks and similar areas. The 4X6 and the 5.3 are quite good in trash and the 6X10 gives good coverage with decent separation in trashy spots as well.
My two bits,
BB

The answer is Yes, give Mike a call at White's of the Great Lakes, the distributor for your area. 419-885-7191.

I have nothing but nice things to say about my MXT pro, the 12" coil is nice for open areas. I love the backlight, love the tone ID in C/J mode, love the instant ground grab. I did buy two other coils for mine (the 6x10 and 5.3 eclipse) and have used them all to good effect. You do have the option of going with the MXT and not the MXT pro and getting the 9.5 coil instead of the 12 but I like the 12 for large open areas, nice coverage, nice depth and not too heavy (once ya get used to it).

Sounds good. Thanks for all the info. I use the 5.3 and 9.5 on my QXT. I could see where the 12" would be nice on sports fields though.

Mike
