considering an excelerator coil

MontanaMatt

New member
Hi folks,

I own a whites MXT with the stock coil, a whites 6x10 DD coil and the 4x6 shooter coil. I leave the 6x10 on most of the time. I'm considering getting an excerlator coil but am uncertain which one I want. Any of you folks have opinions on which excelerator coil you like best? I'm thinking about the 6" DD excelerator coil but want to get some opinions first. Thanks for the input!!

MontanaMatt

I also have the coils you listed and like them all. Although I have to admit I use the 6x10 about 98% of the time. I gonna have to watch your post as I have a 8" EX coil I have never used. Sorry, no help here.

MontanaMatt,

You haven't indicated what your ground is like, so its hard to recommend what smaller coil would be best for you (the best way to know is to run the test that Jeff Foster spells out in his book "The MXT Edge". If you don't have this book it is well worth the money). If your ground isn't too mineralized the 5.3 coil would probably be best, since you already have one of the best general use DD coils. If you do have moderate to bad ground the 6" DD would be a great coil for target seperation in real trashy areas. I have an 8" DD coil and its a great coil, but I'm probably going to sell mine since now that I've been using my 6X10 DD, I haven't had a need for it.

my My 6" DD excel did not work at all on my mxt.i sent it back and the.re gonna swap it out for me to a 5"dd excel. i hope for better luck this time!

What do you mean its not tuned right? If it does not work have you contacted the dealer for assistance? HH Dennis in Idaho
My 6" DD excel is not tuned right , does not work as good as my whites coils.
"B U T" I called JW and he promptly gave me an RMA number to return it to exchange it for another.
So how do you run the ground test?

Mike
Mike I don't understand what you mean by running a ground test. HH Dennis in Idaho

In Jeff Foster's book on the MXT he describes how to determine how good or bad your ground is. Because of copyright issues and intellectual property rights I can't post it publicly.
