Considering a new CTX asking for input/help

I am seriously considering purchasing a new CTX. I have never owned an FBS machine and I usually never post only read what everyone is finding and about other machines. I have owned a 5900, Eagle ll, XLT, tejon, currently I have a F75 G2 and a ML 705.

The CTX is a new machine and everyone is learning as I can see. Some questions I have concern the modes of ground coin, ferious coin and what is the difference. I have seen Evan's settings and understand the principles behind the open screen. I am used to hunting in all metal or zero disc with my other machines. If anyone is willing to help me understand some more I would appreciate it. If you would email me at jtram201@gmail.com and if you wouldn't mind me calling please send me your phone number.

Hello. My old detector was a Garrett GTi 2500, and now using the new CTX 3030. I regularly beach hunt dry sand and with the GTI I was switching between all metal, then the Jewelry mode, so basically swiltching between all metal and discrimation iron. The GTI worked well, but recently I took delivery of a CTX 3030.

I am still learning what the CTX can do. I can tell you for sure using it in it's default beach mode works extremely well for me, the default discrimination works great. I can see the accept ferrous targets, sounding off, and the non-ferrous no tone, but can see the visual trace. All the accept targets are good every time, you will still pull the clone targets, ie foil and pull tab.

The detector is perfectly balanced with the coil it comes with, low fatigue to my arm and wrist compared to the GTI.

I mainly detect based on the sound and dig everything that sounds off (dry sand) in the default beach mode. I am confident to say that I am pulling more coin targets than I would pull with the GTI. The GTI falsed regulary on trash targets, the new CTX seems to be free of falsing.

I love me new CTX. Oh, the other cool feature, is the built in clock, of course not to mention the GPS, target logging, and configuring your own discrimation patterns - yet to be figured out by me.

Here's todays finds in about 1 hour of time, nothing great but you can see solid targets and the foil and pull tabs, nothing else was dug that was junk.

Great Machine.
