Consensus: Best batteries?

Friends,

I am relatively new to detecting but recently was given a Quattoro to augment the Fischer CZ3D which we have been using for the past year. Finally I get some free days to try it out, drive out to the site, and... the assorted rechargeables I pieced together at Christmas had lost their charge in the month since then. Went to Convenient and bought some more cheap batteries, and they didn't even have enough charge to register. I think it's time to buy some serious batteries but wanted some advice as to the best kind. Are rechargeables OK? They seem to be the most economical over the long run.

PS - Sorry, I know this has been a recent post. Was there a consensus reached about this?

Hello,i use sanyo eneloops with my x-terra 70 and they seems to be very good rechargeables.

They last forever in my Xterra 705, so, I just ordered another 8 pack & charger for the Safari. We'll see how long they last in it.............MO

I'm convinced. Ordering some sanyo eneyloops tonight. What a name for bateries!

Can't beat the Sanyos in my opinion. They are a little expensive, but if you take into consideration how many regular batteries you would be buying, they're a bargain. Onus

One day I'll buy some rechargable batteries for the Quattro, but for now, I go to the 99 Cent store and score 2 - 4 packs of alkalines and it only costs $2 to fill it up for about 18-20 hours of detecting.

Hi- After reading and taking your advice on this subject. I ordered an 8 pack of Sanyo Eneloop NiMH rechargeable batteries & a La Crosse Technology BC-700 Alpha Power Battery Charger from Amazon. After the fact, the only doubt that I have with this purchase is the batteries are rated @ 2000mAh. Will these still work okay with my Safari or should I've looked for ones with a higher capacity? I called Minelab, but they never got back to me on this. They're probably way too busy trying to fulfill all of their back-order demands/issues. Also, I am curious if they will work, what kind of time I would get out of them on a full charge in comparison to something rated higher. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Regards,
John

I too was worried about the 2000 mAh battery capacity, but Sanyo Rechargeable seems to last a very long time,so the more the Rechargeable have capacity the longer it should last, aint always true.
