Cons of buying a discontinued model

I was just wondering what are the cons of buying a discontinued model. I can get the Time Ranger at a really good price, but I see it has been discontinued. Exactly what does that mean? Does that make the warranty no good? Just curious.

The Time Ranger that is being discontinued is an excellent detector and was Bounty Hunter's top model for a while. It has many more features than the models you asked about in your other post, a detector your son can grow into as he gains more experience. I think this sale is a lot of "bang for the buck", the best buy in a detector on the market right now. They will not be making this model anymore as it obviously has been replaced by a newer model but yes, the warrantee will still be honored. This is just my opinion based on 41 years experience. Thanks Steve, that's kinda what I thought, but my husband was just worried if something broke or messed up in the first few months that it might be hard to get it replaced or worked on since it was discontinued.

Well I did it, I got the Time Ranger from Radio Shack for 179.99. I hope I made the right decision. I appreciate all the info and advice everyone on here has given me. Thanks again and Happy Hunting to everyone.

Congratulations on your choice! I know he'll enjoy this detector and have many enjoyable hours with it. It's a far cry from what I started out with many years ago. Don't forget a good set of headphones, they make a lot of difference hearing those deep targets. Keep us posted . Steve

Congrats on the Time Ranger. Looking forward to posts on finds.
