Conquistador coil question - Need Help

paydirt

New member
Hello, just purchased a used Conquistador from Detector Depot online. It was advertised as having a scuff cover on it. This detector has the white 9x8 concentric spoked coil. When I removed the scuff cover from the coil it appears that the bottom half of the coli itself is missing and the scuff cover was merely hiding the fact. I shouldn't see the brown coil filler that they use after removing the scuff cover should I? This is the pits.

I have the same set-up. When you remove the cover...you will see what appears to be...and probably is...just resin on the bottom of the coil...that is how they are made. There is a 12 X 10 coil on another web sites classifieds that shows the bottom...check it out.
