I know that this has been talked about many times and I have been putting in quite a lot of metal detecting time and still trying to figure out what the readings are telling me. Metal detecting in northern illinois and only having parks available to do this is somewhat of a challenge due to a lot of trashy areas and others hitting these spots as well. Now, when I turn the unit on my procedure is to make sure it is in AM mode, then manually GB and NC. Sensitivity is set at 26. When I sweep and run across a signal it will run anywhere from -6 to 38 to 46 and at that point I will begin to decrease sens until I get down to around 16-18. Also will the sensitivity numbers only jump around when you run across a target or immediately after you set it at too high a number telling the operator to set it back? I will still at times come across targets that show several diff numbers. What is this telling me? Also when I do find a solid target (numbers showing maybe 32-34) and pinpoint it will show an entirely diff depth and ID number and do not understand what this is saying. Have had some experience with a Garrett gtax 550 but really have not put in a lot of hours. I was told that the x-70 has a fairly steep learning curve. Also apologize if this has been posted in the past. I guess I feel that my real issue is finding the right sensitity setting and matching the TID's to real targets (rings, coins, pull tabs)
