 Indian Metal Fish Arrowhead Maybe ?????

Any help with the ID would be appreciated

I found this cool hand-made arrowhead with my Excalibur 800 in Lewis Bay on Cape Cod Sunday. It registers as nickel on my MXT. I believe it was used to shoot fish in the shallows. Some say one of the first things the Indians did when they got hold of any metal was to make arrowheads. The Wampanogs are the local tribe. It feels heavy at .25 oz and measures 1 1/2 inches.

The picture shows the uncleaned color just as it came out of the water. It seems to have nicely beveled edges as it was chiseled or cut from a piece of metal.

Can you please help with an age, ID and /or reference ?

doesnt apper to have any hammer marks from stones... is it folded? i think its just a torn piece of metal honestly i could be wrong but it looks to well made

If it's not iron it may be a really good one, very, very old. Anyway it's a really cool find!

Looks to me like its part of a harpoon possibly for whaling or whatever else swims around up there ;)

I probably have no imagination. It looks like a scrap of metal from a metal shop. If it were a harpoon I think it would have a more defined barb. Nickel or monel metal would have been difficult for indians to come by if it is old.

I do not have access to a BHID but I do have a Whites MXT besides my Excaliburs. The MXT registers a 26 VDI in Relec Mode. That is a little higher than a Nickel but also in the Gold range
