:confused:I found this "C"

Hi Everyone. Does anyone know what this "C" is? It looks like it must be copper due to its color. I found it in an area of Van Cortlandt park (Bronx NY) that seems to have recently been washed out by snow melt. I want to believe its something old due to the history around here, but I'm not sure. Any clues? Thanks!

Looks to me like a newer letter that you would put on a door or something like that. Maybe?

Thats what I thought. Too bad no ones name here starts with a C! Who knows how it got in the middle of a huge park

My guess would be that it came from something with the name Van Cortlandt on it.

I thought of that last night before I fell asleep! It does look just like the one in that picture. Thanks guys, hopefully next time I'll have something a little more interesting I need to ask about.

Yep. They had to replace it as the old one got knocked off somehow. You found the old one. How many gates to the park..

The park is 1,146 acres and a lot of the entrances don't have arches over them like the one in the picture, but they could have at some point. There weren't any near where I found it. Its a beautiful park though, mostly forest.
