:confused:HAS ANYONE USED THE MXT ON THE BEACH:shrug:

Not at all beaches, although I have never hunted the California beaches, I hear it doesn't work on them. I have used the MXT on the wet sand when in Texas, it seemed to do OK. Forget about having a wave roll over the coil, it just goes off. Rob

I've used mine while in Mexico's Playa Del Carmen's beaches. Did great then. Also have used it on a river beach in Iowa and IL. Did great there also. Go for it!!! Just make sure when you get your coil wet, DON'T raise the coil/rod up above the control unit. It's NOT waterproof. Good luck and have fun!!!!

I thought you were thinking of salt water. I've used it at fresh water beaches with great results. I've hunted the Scott County Mississippi beaches as well as Lake Michigan. Using the 6 x 10, relic mode, trigger center, I have not trouble running + range. Rob

How long have you had the MXT?
Don't be offended if I suggest you
take another look at the manual that
accompanies the MXT. Ground Balancing
is important when on the beach.
Remember to put the balance on "SALT"
Just check the manual. If its not
salt water, still check the manual for
ground balancing.

Regards
Robert Roy

It works good on dry salty sand, but poorly in wet salty sand. I never could get more than 2" dpeth in relic mode at Cancun, MX, even in the + range.

Ah, the MXT works on CA beaches just fine. There is a lot of black sand but then most of our soil is quite mineralized too. The dry sand is better for the MXT than the wet and from the hauls I've seen some of the folks in the Treasure Hunters Society of Santa Clara Valley display at the monthly meetings I'd have to say that is a true statement. Just get a good scoop and dig!:detecting:

I use mine on Maryland beaches all the time, dry sand only. It does not work in wet sand unless you want lose your hearing. It's actually better than my whites PI detector on dry sand because of the black sand we have here.

We have gotten 12" on the larger coins in the wet sand.

Yes...I have used the MXT on the beach a good bit. I have hunted Panama City Beach a lot. It works well in both wet and dry sand. Most of the time I use the sand setting, but I have locked the ground balance also. When I am at the beach, I hunt slow. I also dig everything. There are lots of good finds hiding in the crap. A 1905 V nickel and a 10K woman's wedding band were found the lat time I was there. Good Luck.

My MXT works great in NC on the Outer Banks and on the Jersey Shore.
Just set it and go. The new spider coil picks up smaller coins
deeper. Go from dry to wet sand and do not miss a beat.
