Been working my se in factory settings and gradually turning up settings doing alot better on the tones finding lots of clad very happy with my new machine.but i buried a quarter about 8" wouldn't pick it up, came up about 6" then picked up, so what I'm trying to say is the machine wont pick up anything deeper than 6". I have a se pro, can anybody help me out ????

You might want to make sure you sensitivity and threshold are in balance. There is a video on mlotv that explains it. When they are in balance you will go deeper.

turn up the gain and increase the sensitivity (manual sensitivity) auto-sensitivity seems to loose depth for my part of the country

When I got me SEpro I started out in manual sen. and found some silver including 2 barber qtrs. and recently I have been using auto sensitivity and my silver finds have gone to zero

Most detectors dont like newly disturbed soil much like they dont air test very well. Ive used both manual and semi auto sensitivity there are advantages to both especially to someone starting out with the Explorer. In auto you can crank it up a bit and let the machine choose the best setting for EMI, soil, and deep iron. Sometimes too much is just that too much. You have to know your conditions because if you are using disc and its nulling you are going to loose sensitivity until it recovers... that means depth. I use manual... but ive tested a lot of targets and rarely am i not able to pick those targets up in auto sensitivity. What i have found is auto picks up targets.... then just cuts off. Where as maual keeps trying to ID targets even thou it doesnt know what it is. Thats where you come in. You have to start listening to those modulated low signals you think are false signals. Get away from listening as much to surface louder tones. Recheck those signals and your depth meter. Anyone who goes from one machine to another... their finds go down initially. You are going to have to find what works for YOU in your area. Some of us here use high sensitivity... me i perfer something around 24 for most conditions. Keep you coil low, it doesnt hurt to put it on the ground and push it along... the explorer doesnt like a lot of air between the soil and the coil. It also isnt one you can "TAKE FOR A WALK". What i mean by that dont swing it like a fast recovery machine or like you are playing golf.
