:confused:Best of the CZ Series?

Which of the CZ Series is best for coins and trashy area's? I would also buy a smaller coil?

Many Thanks

I am partial to the 6a. I like the analog meter and the fact that the sensitivity control can be fine tuned. I don't think you can do that on the 70. With the 5 inch coil and discrim at 0, its a killer coin machine in trash. And still goes VERY deep. I use discrim at 0 because I like listening to every target and can hear the low/high tone bounce on the deep iron.

Which ever model you get, make sure you get the small coil.

Analog I would pick the CZ6A as its built like a tank and weather resistant and of course can be set in increments of 1-2-3-4 and prefer the S handle configuration, superior batterry holder and superior hip mount...

Digital I would pick a CZ70 but its a little plasticky(if thats a word) and does have an inferior batterry holder and hipmount and don't particuliarly like the pistol grip configuration. I do like the notch which is not linear and the extra tone and also it shows depth to 10 inches instead of 8...setting increments of 2-4-6 is a minus...

I do have to say for those that like to rodmount only the CZ7A provides excellent balance even though 8 ounces heavier and with 12 AA batteries under armcup provides long battery life and would be my second digital pick but batterry compartment leaves little to be desired and of course if you want to use a heavier coil you can't hipmount but again its more solid than other digital models.

Am I being a little picky certainly not but just my preferences and perhapsyours may differ...In addendum any CZ is an excellent unit and take your pick.

Picky is OK, Dan...

What is your experience with the CZ-3D ?

Do you think TD has done well, weighting the internal programming towards old silver, as he says?

I like the CZ5 better in my area. The sensitivity can be adjusted better than the CZ70.

I have a CZ 5 which has great depth and that is quite sensitive.
I suggested the CZ 70 because it has an extended target ID, while the CZ has a 7 zones analogue one.
I also prefer the CZ 5, quite cheap, built likea a tank.
A question to Dan Pa, do the CZs work with 9 volts or with 18 volts ?

For one thing its not weather resistant and Fisher had a good idea with an old and new mode if used correctly..One runs into problems if he uses in parks used 100 years ago and still used today as the advanced mode will pick up a lot of junk..As the regular mode is actually the salt mode also I feel some depth is lost in the regular mode along with
ensitivty to gold jewelry but minimum at best. Basically I preferred the CZ6A as generally two modes do not help me out as most of my hunting areas are not extremely old but
I guess it depends on ones preferences and many do well with it...depending on their hunting conditions as it does do well in extremely old areas..

I might say the CZ-5, my only experience though is with the CZ-5, CZ-7 and the CZ-20. I would like to have gotten the CZ-20 with the larger coil (for beach and open ground work), but the standard coil is better in rocky under water work and in demolition/construction sites. Again, as others would say the notch disc on the digital CZ's is sometimes a blessing. I seldom have used the hockey puck but will give it a go again this year in trashy sites with sens very low, 0-2 maybe. Since it overloads on quarters within an inch of it I always leave it out of the mix. I like the larger coil on the CZ-7 because it does get that extra punch and the target separation is still phenomonal at deep targets with a slow and careful sweep.
