Confederate Veterans Reunion Medal...

Howdy--

I dug this medal a few years ago and was wondering if anyone had any info on it other than the obvious? The inscription reads:

United

Confederate Veterans Reunion

June 8-10, 1909

Winnie Davis

Memphis Tenn.

The backmark is Schawaab's & S Co. , Milwalkee

It appears to be of brass or bronze composition and is slightly larger in diameter than a quarter. Thanks for any additional information! Best of luck and...

Great find. Winnie Davis was the daughter of Jefferson Davis, president of the Confederate States of America circa 1861-1865. A picture of your medal can be seen on the link posted.

Found one dated 1928 in Va. A much different design. Even then the vets. had to be 80-90 years old. Could not have been many left. God bless them all, Yanks and Rebs.

You are welcome Blind Squirrel. I do not post here much, but always check in on the unknown items. I get lucky with research every now and then. :)

What a piece of history :) I've read they held the Confederate reunions around Mexia, Texas from 1889-1946. The veterans had camp-outs, picnics and just imagine the stories told around the campfires:usaflag::csflag:
