Confederate Museum New Orleans: Support the Cause!!

The Memorial Hall Civil War Museum, also known as the Confederate Museum, has just finished constructing a new website with a shopping cart feature. This means you can support the museum by selecting your membership level online and use a credit card to join. Membership in this museum is one of the best kept secrets in New Orleans, it is inexpensive and offers a wonderful place to visit on your next trip to New Orleans. It's collection of Confederate artifacts is, quite simply, breathtaking. The Civil War Museum is in the heart of the city's Museum and Arts District. Right next door are the World War II Museum, the Ogden Museum of Southern Art and the Contemporary Arts Center. The Civil War Museum is located just off Lee Circle and is only a street car ride away from Audubon Park, the University District, Canal Street, the Audubon Institute's Insectarium, the Riverfront Aquarium and the French Quarter. It is a perfect destination for a day trip to New Orleans. Please consider joining this fine privately run museum which draws its financial support solely from membership subscriptions and private donations. Also, don't miss the online "Gift Shop" with a wonderful selection of books, toys, jewelry and prints.

This museum houses a huge collection of Confederate artifacts of all types, including many items not on display. Unlike many collections, a large percentage of artifacts here have provenance, rather than just random examples. Well worth the time and a donation. It is worthy of support even though you may never get there.

Will have to check it out, I'm only an hour from New Orleans. Is anyone welcome to visit or do you have to become a member first?

Anyone can visit. The entrance fee is $8.00 but for a few dollars more you can become a member and your family can visit all year for free.

There is an amazing exhibit on Shiloh there right now. It will be on display until the end of the year. Remarkable artifacts with provenance and some of the most incredible original battle flags south of the Museum of the Confederacy.

Awesome! Thanks for the info! Sounds like a great trip!!
