Confederate button dug in Upstate NY ???

Ed (Upstate NY)

Active member
Dug this button in a city park this morning. Sure looks like a confederate artillery button. Don't want to take a chance on cleaning as it is very fragile. Reverse is caked with dirt and I'm not even sure if the button back is intact. I've been to 3 North -South hunts in Virginia looking for a confederate button and ended up finding one in my own back yard. Button experts feel free to offer your opinion if button is the real thing or not. Thanks.....

I don't know much about buttons, but that is a great find, Ed. Congrats.

Great find Ed! Not a button guy so I don't know if it's the real McCoy or not, but I sure hope it is!
