Concentric Or DD

Happy_Hour

New member
What type of test would be done with a coil if there was no markings at all stating which type of coil it was.....It could be any brand of detector coil.

Well if its a DD take a dime and start at the tip and if the dime beeps, in a straight line all the way from front to back its a DD

Happy_Hour,

As stated by kaolinwasher DD detect from the tip to the heal, down through the center, it's good for highly mineralized soil & discrimination isn't as good as Concentric.

The concentric coil best depth is in the center (like a inverted cone) & has better discrimination than the DD coils & more depth.

Hope this helps . . . HaRM

In my air test of the 5.75" Concentric vs DD they are the same.

I think the big problem with the DD discrimination is with those Crown bottle caps, but they are pretty high up the discrimination range.
On my Omega the DD actually ID's better than the Concentric, but those bottle caps are a problem. Also, on my Omega the DD is for sure deeper and I'm not saying that holds true for the Tesoro's?
