Computer Viruses

Can the Minelab CTX 3030 get a virus if it is connected to an infected computer while obtaining information from the computer for updates, maps, and etc?

The answer is probably not as the Minelab will only upload or download certain file extensions. I doubt that infected virus files would be targeted to Minelab file extensions. But, if someone out there wanted to find a way to infect a file with the minelab file extensions, then, yes it could happen.

Mine did..I keep getting all these ads for porn sites and viagra whenever I pinpoint or use the stock silver mode.

For the most part, a virus is written for specific OS(operating system) and for a specific purpose. While a virus could be written for the CTX it would be like writing a virus for a wristwatch. Not much to be gained
