Hello. Im kinda new and I was wondering how many of u folks go and compete in competiton hunts. Theres one comin up in a couple of weeks close to where I live and I just wanted to know if I should go. If so, what do the hunt for like regular change (quarters,nickles,dimes,etc.) or do they use a speacial coin or something.

There are two held close to me every year. They plant coins which you can keep what you find, plus prize tokens. some of the hunts are count out where the folks with the top 3 or 4 counts win something. They usually also sell raffle tickets on gold and silver coins plus detectors. A good way to meet people in the hobby and a lot of fun. Sort of like an adult easter egg hunt.

I have been involved in two hunts like that ,,both were durring club events at gold digging camps in Az At the first the promoters burried foil with paper notes folded up inside that had numbers on them that corisponded with prizes. The other hunt they burried modern coins but each was painted a different color that would earn prizes. Was a fun way to meet others people that share the hobby . It is great that you have one near your home
