competition hunts

Does any one have any suggestions on keeping evry detector in the field from interfering on competition hunts. The last one I was in, I went nuts. Also does anyone have a discrimination pattern they like in competitions.

I hunted with my ex. at the beach hunt this year. I am no competiton hunter, but I could swing as fast as the tesoro's. I kept my sens down low since everything is shallow. No one interfered with me except Guvner when I would get near him. I think he had his sens cranked or we were on the same channel. No one else at all would interfere with me and we were bumping elbows. I don't know what I was doing to them, but I not care.

I would plant you some coins at the very deepest you think they will be in the hunt and do some experimenting by lowering yours sens to as low as you can and still keep a good signal with a fast sweep. I think I ran like 8 manual at the hunt if I remember correctly. Higher sens is the culprit with interference and high sens is not needed at a seeded hunt.

I used the explorer at my first competition hunt earlier this year. It was crowded but I experienced very little interference. My only problem was a blister at the base of my index finger from swinging so long. Based on the number of coins planted and the number or people hunting, I got twice the average per hunter, so I think I did OK.
Just open up a box in the upper right corner that accepts everything, but don't get too fancy. I made mine just reject zinc pennies but later found out to my horror I rejected tokens as well (I thought the tokens were colored copper pennies and they were acually bronze tokens - I'll listen better next time!). But I sure found lots of tokens from previous years hunts.

Is the Explorers response time fast enough for competition hunting? It seems slow to me.

I did well with the explorere. Very little interference. Got my hsare of coins. 1st hunt netted about 140 coins. Most did about 90. I think the response time was OK and I was moving fast.
